The Professional Football League, the highest division of the Italian football league system, is one of the strongest football divisions in the world, ranking third in the UEFA coefficient table, after the championships of England and Spain (as of 2022)[2]. In 2020, Serie A was recognized as the strongest football league in the world by the IFFHS[3]. The winner of Serie A places a scudetto on his uniform, and also receives a cup. This tournament was founded in 1898, when the competition was held in groups divided according to the regional principle, but since 1929 the Serie A has changed its format, since then the participating teams have been playing in a round-robin system. The official sponsor of the tournament is Telecom Italia Mobile, which is why the Series A is officially called the Series A TIM (ital. Serie A TIM). The current champion is Milan.
