The Premier League is a professional football league for English football clubs (some clubs from Wales can also play in it). It is the highest division in the English football league system. There are 20 clubs in it. The championship runs from August to May, with each team playing 38 matches. Until 2016, the tournament was officially called the Barclays Premier League, since 2016 the tournament has not had a main sponsor. Outside of England, the tournament is often referred to as the "English Premier League".
